When Cronig's Market underwent an addition
in 1993, a customer suggested the marketplace symbol of a grasshopper.
He explained that the custom had its roots in the markets of England,
where the grasshopper served as a beacon, a signpost which invited
both passersby and neighbors to trade. But the grasshopper represented
more than simple commerce. It also symbolized community: the delicate
balance of interdependency, where merchant and families rely on
each other.
Our business philosophy tries to continue the symbol of the grasshopper
from the 1800's. Our product selection is driven by our customers
not corporations. This gives us an opportunity for the customer
to shape our variety which gives us a unique blend of product selection
for you.
